This may be a crazy question...but do Chinese people identify themselves with their backgrounds if they are a part of a minority. For instance, would you say I am from the Manchu, or Han, or Miao tribe?

Wow...to Shanghai in 30minutes. I can go spend all my money faster! Oh my!

Enjoyed your Lowai referencing...I think the word "negroid" is no longer used. But it seems to change over time. The politically correct term I think these days are either Blacks, or Afro-Americans.

I am Hispanic.

to Professor L,

Thank you for the gold star, I’d like 2 if possible.

When you said you counted 13 foreigners after you got off the train, I recall something about how we call foreigners: laowai. So, Laowai normally means Caucasian from Europe, America, Australia (western world) who can be vasually identified as foreigners. We never call Japanese, Korean etc from Aisa as Laowai. Thus, u actually counted 13 Laowais, foreigners = laowai + Asian + negroids + ...

I also like to stay in small cities, I love Changzhou so much, people here are not too much pressured nor slack; not extravagant, either not closefisted... Everything is just OK.

Well, Professor, you will feel more confortable taking trains in 3 years as we’re working on another 3 high speed railways which will both pass through Changzhou, it takes only 30 minutes from Changzhou to Shanghai then. Stay in China and see.

Thank you all, I love you!

Well well well...I took a weekend trip to Shanghai and come back to see so much wonderful English chatter. It makes me really very happy. I counted 13 foreigners getting off the train at Changzhou. However, I was reminded WHY I chose CZ and NOT Shanghai to live...there were so many people everywhere I felt like an tiny ant in a giant ant farm. But I really enjoyed the train ride. So much easier than 4 years ago.

By the way, TOM has a great company that does Web pages if you’re interested. Hope that’s going well for you Tom.

And good 4 U Arlee...remembering "not BAD, not GOOD, just DIFFERENT" when it comes to cultural differences. U get a gold star for this week. PROFESSOR L

to lmignon,

Yup, just say, as told by Professor L, culture is different, not good not bad.

Closer relationship, hehe, chopsticks getting dishes from the same bowl means the same thing.

Too much to say about different cultures in the world and the topic will be wonderful for foreigners, definitely.

Thank you all, I love you!

Awwwww! Come on Wowpro. "Meaning of life" conversation is a great way to share stuff about our cultures, right? One thing I have seen in China, is that you seem to have closer FAMILY relationships than in the States.

You can ride horses in Yangcheng Safari Park. It is only ring-riding just like Imigon said! But you can have a try. Yancheng Safari Park is located in Wujing district.

Hi Carmelita I’ve seen horseback riding in Mongolia and Sichuan Province. But none in the Jiangsu Province. Heard something about a place in Wuxi but it might only be ring-riding.
